Breath is the focus of this wonderfully therapeutic yoga. Each movement brings awareness to different areas of the body. The beauty of doing seated yoga is the focus on very intricate  workings of the body such as exercises to open the hands and lengthen the fingers or release the tension in the shoulders and neck. We perform movements to strengthen the eyes, do-in movements to strengthen the lungs, as well as classic asanas (postures) such as "triangle" Trikonasana pose seated on a chair.  This class is for all levels and abilities.  Cost $5.

The setting for this class is a beautiful Iyengar Yoga studio located in downtown Santa Cruz. Equipped with as many props as needed, this studio is spacious and welcoming. Whether  seated in a chair, standing at the wall or standing supported by the chair, this class is both challenging and relaxing. The focus of this class, as well as the other classes, is alignment.  While stretching and breathing the body eases towards  balance naturally and slowly. Meditation is included at the end of each class. Cost: Drop -in $10/$8 per class if you buy a series of classes.

The focus of this class is relaxation. When we sit in a chair and perform movement with the breath, change happens.  The sentence heard over and over, "my life has changed because of yoga". All that is needed is a willingness to try. Most get hooked, so be careful!  The setting for this class is an outdoor, covered, enclosed deck with lots of air and serenity. This class is in the community hall spacious and light. Plenty of room to move! Lots of easy parking.  All are welcome to this Chair Yoga class. You do not need to be a member to attend class. Suggested donation $5.  No class on Sept. 25, Oct. 2 and Oct. 9, 2019.
